The Big Idea.
How & Why
It Worked.
- Challenge
- Reposition a former boxing champion as the personality behind a successful Italian restaurant, without losing any of the personality and tough-guy character that would make Marc Randazzo a local celebrity.
- The Idea
- Let Marc cook. We spent a week inside the restaurant, from the kitchen to the dining room to the back alley, and discovered that Marc himself WAS the brand. After that week, his larger-than-life personality, constant presence and unmistakable Chicago toughness became the foundation for the campaign. We carried that personality into an unexpected place: the check presenter (and menus). Inspired by the look and construction of the iconic Everlast boxing glove, it turned an everyday, forgotten restaurant touchpoint into a piece of the brand. The work proved so effective that customers began stealing the presenters.
- Result
- The campaign helped draw even larger crowds, turning Marc into a local rock star - and earned Matador a National Silver Addy.
- Challenge
- Introduce a new aftermarket product, via social media, to a highly knowledgeable audience of Porsche owners, while communicating a problem most drivers had probably experienced without understanding its cause.
- The Idea
- Entice them to see more clearly. We altered one small but critical detail in the Porsche crest: the horse was reversed. Everything else remained accurate, making the difference almost imperceptible to anyone who wasn’t paying close attention. That became the campaign idea and a natural expression of the product benefit: if you’re not seeing clearly, you might miss something important. The campaign launched with a digital postcard featuring the altered crest, then moved to Instagram, where each post used Porsche photography with three subtle changes between the top and bottom images. The audience was invited to find what had changed, reinforcing both the concept and the Vision Vents solution.
- Result
- Sales grew 51% through the first three years following the brand’s launch.
- Challenge
- Introduce a very dog friendly neighborhood wine shop to an affluent Coral Gables audience with a social campaign that felt distinctive, approachable and fun - without an expensive photo shoot.
- The Idea
- Build the brand around what made Caná different and gave it its personality: wine and dogs. The shop’s owners are passionate about both, and their adorable toothless rescue, Uva, could usually be found somewhere around the store. That passion drove the strategy and concept: a visual campaign built around the idea of a different breed of wine shop. But producing it conventionally would require a dog model, handler, location, set, photographer, copywriter and retoucher, all beyond the client’s budget. So we turned to Midjourney. Using generative AI, we produced the campaign’s imagery and copy in less than half a day, creating a complete visual brand story around Caná’s two great loves. And, naturally, every post came with a reminder: please don’t give your actual dog wine.
- Result
- Caná established a distinctive social presence built around its dog-friendly personality, helping introduce the neighborhood wine shop as a welcoming destination for wine lovers and their four-legged companions.

About Matador
A creative shop with enough nerve to take on tough projects.
Matador Digital Marketing Agency was founded as Matador Miami in 2003, by three South Florida ad agency veterans.
The name isn't a nod to bullfighting as a tradition. It’s a nod to what the role demands: years of training so that when the moment gets critical, you don't flinch. That's the standard to which we hold both ourselves and our work. (In case there's any doubt, we don't endorse cruelty to animals in any form.)
It's about the archetype - courage that's earned, not reckless. We found it too good a metaphor to pass up.
It's a different industry now, from when we first started. The years have brought growth. Experience. Confidence to meet the challenges of a complex digital landscape.
So we decided to rename the agency.
Welcome to MATADOR DIGITAL MARKETING.
